One Web 2.0 application that I found interesting and would be very helpful in teaching in the baking program is Quizlet. Quizlet is the largest flash card and study games website. This website allows you to create educational games or study material to help with memorization and vocabulary.
In the culinary industry, practical work is very important, however, knowing proper terminology and identifying ingredients are just as important. Without which they would not know what to do with the ingredient. Quizlet can be used to help students learn and study the terminologies required.
I find playing games in class heightens learning in comparison to just lecturing about the subject. Teachers can create tests and quizzes to be used in class as a review or students can create their own flash cards to help with their studies. To make it more accessible and practical, it is also available as a mobile app. And in our current society, accessibility of information or tools on our mobile device is definitely an important aspect, which makes Quizlet even more appealing for me to use.
